He handed the letter over to his mom, and asked her to deliver it to his father, but she never did. So despite his almost short story like attempt at communicating how insufferable his dad was, he couldn't. Very unfortunate! It's also quite evident in his story metamorphosis, that he views familial relationships through quite a cynical eye.
